What makes a loyalty program work in Singapore?
A loyalty program gives customers a reason to return through points, savings, recognition or experiences. A membership program defines who receives those benefits and on what terms. Payment-linked loyalty connects eligible payments to a member’s rewards, so participating can become part of paying rather than a separate checkout task.
For a Singapore café during the lunch rush, convenience means no extra queue. For a mall retailer, it means the shopper can earn across outlets without learning another process. For a neighbourhood business, it means a reward worth returning for. The strongest design combines a clear benefit with a simple way to earn and redeem it.
Inspired by Rewardz’s collection of loyalty examples, this guide selects 10 programmes relevant to Singapore, including the Dulux Connect trade example and checks their current descriptions against official sources. Each Rewardly opportunity below is an EISOL design proposal. It does not mean the named brand uses, endorses or plans to adopt Rewardly.
Payment-linked loyalty: pay normally, earn automatically
Payment-linked loyalty is an advanced way to remove repeat identification from a loyalty program. After enrolment and the required payment linking, a supported payment can recognise the member and trigger the appropriate reward. The shopper need not repeatedly recite a phone number, show a membership barcode or upload a receipt on that eligible journey.
Rewardly’s GoShanon describes automatic recognition and rewarding through payment activity, alongside a short sign-up journey without requiring a separate app download. The useful promise is zero extra loyalty steps on subsequent eligible purchases. “Zero touch” describes that repeat earning experience; customers still choose to join and use a supported payment method.
- 01 · Join onceExplain the benefit, enrol the member and complete the supported payment-linking process.
- 02 · Shop and payThe shopper pays normally with the linked payment method at a participating merchant.
- 03 · Earn automaticallyA verified eligible transaction updates points, stamps or the relevant reward.
- 04 · Redeem with controlUse a supported checkout redemption or an agreed automatic benefit, with the member’s authorisation.
Automatic earning and automatic redemption are different capabilities. Points “burning” means spending points, so members need control over when that happens. Depending on the connection, redemption may require one confirmation or a pre-authorised rule. Card replacements, mobile-wallet tokens and unsupported payment methods also need a clear fallback.

Rewardly Sentry: keep POS choice, simplify loyalty
A retailer should be able to improve its membership program without replacing a POS that already works for the business. Rewardly Sentry introduces a POS-agnostic connection route: the ambition is to connect across POS brands and bring useful transaction data into a consistent workflow. EISOL already presents Sentry as a bridge for POS systems without a ready connector or suitable API in its EIX mall integration solution.
For loyalty, the new possibility is to combine that connectivity approach with Rewardly LoyaltyOS and eligible payment connections. Earning can follow the verified sale; redemption can return through the supported checkout path. A shop assistant should see the applicable reward in the sale, rather than copy amounts between screens or manually adjust a second points ledger.
“Any POS” is the connectivity objective, not proof that every POS supports every loyalty action immediately. EISOL must confirm the earning data, member recognition and redemption path for the actual setup. Capturing a sale alone does not prove that a discount can be written back into the POS. On a validated standard setup, deployment can be plug and play; less standard systems may need configuration or an additional integration.

10 Singapore loyalty program examples, reimagined
These programmes illustrate different reasons to stay loyal: everyday savings, a shared reward currency, access, status and experiences. The Rewardly ideas are alternative designs for discussion, not claims that the existing programmes lack those features. Implementation would require the operator’s approval, agreed reward funding and the necessary integrations.
1. yuu Rewards Club
Current model: a coalition loyalty program. Members earn points with participating partners and use them to offset purchases or redeem rewards. The useful lesson is shared value across more than one brand.
If designed with Rewardly: add a cross-partner discovery challenge, such as rewarding a member after eligible purchases from three different participating categories. Offer a choice of bonus points or a dining voucher. Sentry could help connect different tenant POS systems; partner settlement and reward funding would need agreed rules.
2. Link Rewards
Current model: everyday points and savings through Link partners. Linkpoints can be earned and redeemed at participating businesses, with earning rules varying by partner. This makes the reward relevant to routine household spending.
If designed with Rewardly: combine the core points balance with a visit-based digital stamp campaign. A neighbourhood merchant could reward repeat weekly visits with a useful voucher, while payment-linked earning removes the need to remember another membership scan. Set sensible visit limits so splitting a basket does not manufacture extra rewards.
3. CapitaStar
Current model: a mall and lifestyle rewards programme using STAR$. It already supports earning through eligible linked payment methods and eCapitaVoucher at participating stores. Payment-linked convenience is therefore an existing Singapore market example, not a new capability invented for this article.
If designed with Rewardly: test a mall discovery passport that rewards a first visit to a new participating tenant, alongside the normal earn rate. Let members choose between retail, dining and experience rewards. Connecting tenant sales through Sentry could broaden the usable transaction data where the required interfaces and permissions are available.
4. Lendlease Plus
Current model: a mall membership program with reward points, e-vouchers and parking-related redemption. Its appeal connects shopping benefits with the practical experience of visiting a mall.
If designed with Rewardly: introduce a weekday lunch mission that unlocks a parking benefit or café voucher after qualifying visits. Payment-linked earning could record the visit during payment. The reward should solve a shopper’s real inconvenience while helping tenants build traffic in a chosen time window.
5. Friends of the Gardens
Current model: an experience-led membership at Gardens by the Bay. Depending on the plan, benefits include repeat admission to selected attractions and member privileges. Access and enjoyment can be more meaningful than a points balance.
If designed with Rewardly: connect approved visit or event records to digital milestones and optional café or retail rewards. A family could unlock a seasonal experience after participating in several activities. Admission validation would still use the attraction’s authorised process; payment recognition alone cannot establish who is entitled to enter.
6. Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer
Current model: a miles-based loyalty program spanning flights and other experiences. Kris+ extends earning and spending miles to participating dining and retail merchants, including in Singapore. Aspirational rewards can connect everyday purchases to a longer-term goal.
If designed with Rewardly: a merchant could combine an immediate in-store benefit with progress towards a larger experience reward. Let members choose quick value or save their points. Any actual transfer into KrisFlyer miles would require a formal programme partnership and agreed conversion terms; Rewardly connectivity alone does not create that permission.
7. IKEA Family
Current model: a free membership program with year-round benefits and member offers in Singapore. It demonstrates how useful privileges can support a customer relationship beyond a single furniture purchase.
If designed with Rewardly: build a home-project journey combining member prices, relevant vouchers and workshop milestones. Where product-level data is connected, follow-up rewards could reflect the project the shopper has chosen. Keep the benefit understandable: a useful next step is more engaging than a stream of unrelated discounts.
8. Dulux Connect painter cashback
Current model: a trade loyalty programme that rewards painters for eligible Dulux products. Painters scan the product cashback code, see eligible rewards in the app wallet and receive payout under the programme rules. EISOL supports the workflow from participant access through cashback administration.
A further Rewardly design opportunity: complement the core cashback with optional repeat-purchase milestones, training-event privileges or useful trade rewards. Keep product-code verification and payout rules clear so richer engagement does not create more work for painters. These are proposed extensions, not claims about features currently deployed in Dulux Connect.
9. Love, Bonito LBCommunity
Current model: a free community and rewards programme with purchase points, tiers and reward choices. Its official Singapore page also describes partner perks. The community proposition already extends beyond a simple discount.
If designed with Rewardly: connect tiers to a choice of styling experiences, referral rewards and relevant store vouchers. Recognise eligible linked payments across participating outlets so a member’s progress follows her shopping journey. Returns should reverse qualifying spend and rewards consistently, preserving trust in the tier calculation.
10. Watsons membership
Current model: member points and promotional benefits, including birthday-month points subject to the programme’s conditions. The Singapore birthday offer applies to the first completed qualifying transaction in that month, illustrating why precise eligibility matters.
If designed with Rewardly: offer a choice between extra points, a relevant beauty voucher and a member event, supported by the required campaign configuration. Payment-linked earning could simplify routine replenishment visits. Use preferences the member chooses to share, with controls over messages, rather than making sensitive health assumptions from a shopping basket.
More reward choices, one membership program
Rewardly’s published modules include points, tiered membership, digital stamps, vouchers, store credits, prepaid packages, referrals and cashback. The opportunity is to combine a small number of relevant mechanics around one customer journey. Start with a clear core reward, then add a reason to explore, return or invite a friend.
| Business aim | Reward approach | Keep it simple |
|---|---|---|
| Encourage repeat visits | Digital stamps or a clearly timed return voucher. | Show progress and the next achievable reward. |
| Recognise valuable members | Tiers, access and service benefits. | Explain the qualification period and renewal rules. |
| Increase reward usefulness | A choice of points, vouchers or experiences. | State value, expiry, exclusions and redemption conditions. |
Streamlined earning and burning without extra work
A well-connected loyalty program should credit a qualifying sale once, display the member’s available benefit and record redemption against the same transaction. Refunds should adjust the original reward. If the connection is temporarily unavailable, the agreed recovery process should prevent duplicate points or double redemption. The shopper sees a simple experience because the operational rules are consistent.
Before rollout, ask EISOL to demonstrate a real earn, redeem and refund journey on your POS and payment setup. Confirm whether automatic redemption is supported, how members give permission and what staff do in an exception. That is the practical test of plug-and-play loyalty: a configured system that removes routine work at the counter.
Measure loyalty beyond sign-ups
Track the share of eligible purchases that earn successfully, the time to a second visit, redemption use and the cost of rewards. Compare repeat purchase and contribution margin against a suitable baseline or holdout group where practical. More members or more redemptions can be useful signals, but neither proves incremental profit on its own.
Keep data use understandable. Tell members how purchase information supports their rewards, separate optional marketing choices from the core journey where appropriate, and collect only the information needed. A membership program should make customers feel recognised and in control.
Loyalty program questions
Is a loyalty program the same as a membership program?
They overlap. Membership establishes the relationship and eligibility; loyalty mechanics provide reasons to engage again. A membership can offer access or privileges without a points system.
Can payment-linked loyalty work without a shopper app?
Yes, supported journeys can recognise an enrolled member through an eligible linked payment. Enrolment and payment compatibility still matter; an app is not inherently required for every repeat earning event.
Does Rewardly Sentry make every POS loyalty-ready immediately?
Sentry offers a route to preserve POS choice. EISOL needs to validate the transaction data, recognition and redemption capabilities of the specific connection before promising an end-to-end loyalty workflow.
Is payment-linked loyalty the most advanced loyalty program?
It is an advanced approach to reducing checkout friction, but there is no universal ranking that makes it best for every business. Judge it by automatic recognition, useful rewards, supported redemption and reliable handling of exceptions.
